Project 40 – Help Restore Our Garden!
Dear Friend of Clark Botanic Garden
Gardens evolve and endure. They’re envisioned, designed and redesigned, planted and transplanted. The landscape is ever changing. Occasionally the heavy hand of Mother Nature forces us to make modifications and adjustments we simply are not prepared to do or able to handle alone. Such was the case when Sandy struck Clark Botanic Garden.
In a few short hours the damage to our garden was dramatic and devastating, further compounded by the snow storm that followed. As we continue to assess the destruction, we know we have lost 40 trees, 80% of our hives and bees, an untold number of shrubs and bushes, along with structural damage to the house, bridges, railings and fences. While the Town has made incredible strides in cleaning the Garden, we have a long way to go before opening the Garden on a permanent basis with the assurance of safety to all who visit.
In an effort to restore this wonderful oasis, the Corporation in conjunction with the Auxiliary is launching “Project 40”. It is our mission to replace the 40 trees destroyed in the storm with 40 new plantings by year’s end. We cannot accomplish this goal alone and your donation will go a long way in restoring this serene haven. Together we can help return the Garden to the beautiful, tranquil setting it once was, which is needed now more than ever.
Take an active role in “Project 40” and help restore Clark Botanic Garden.
March is Matching donation Month for Project 40
We have been most fortunate to have received a generous offer from a “gardening angel”, Arthur Katz, proprietor of Knockout Pest Control, who has agreed to match up to $2,500 of Project 40 donations that are received in March. This is an exciting opportunity to double the value of your contribution if you make it in during that time. Just think of the number of quality trees that could be purchased with such a significant amount.
